Hotel Reservation
During the years of the Soviet time, when all hotels in Ukraine were state-owned, improvement of hotel services was not a priority task for local authorities. Most of hotels were intended to satisfy the minimal needs of short-stay employees traveling to other cities on business. Very few hotels ever had foreign visitors, and only few of those had luxury rooms.
Today, one can find at least a few hotels in each city of Ukraine. There are small privately owned hotels and large hotel complexes offering a great variety of services to satisfy different tastes of international visitors. One can find 3-star and 4-star hotels in each city; 5-star hotels have been built in each large city recently.
Among hotel visitors, one can see representatives of all nations. Foreign travelers come to Ukraine with various purposes - on business, for vacation or to see the land of their ancestors. Modern hotels are learning to provide the whole variety of services which are traditionally offered by hotels of the same level in the Western world. Visitors comments are not always positive, though. Those who return to Ukraine multiple times, prefer to rent a privately owned apartment to staying in a hotel room.
Most of Ukrainian hotels have websites today. It is possible to make a reservation in advance, and some hotels will require a deposit to be paid beforehand; others will require the deposit at the moment of registration.
